Panama eased largely its mobility restriction and allowed lots of economic activities since Monday June 1st.
However, seeing the rapid increase of positive cases as well as death numbers since last week, on June 4th the national government announced the absolute lockdown in the Panama metropolitan area of the weekend from Saturday evening 5pm until Monday morning 5am.
Then, last night June 6th, the government announced the readaptation of the severe mobility restriction based on gender and ID number, same as before, in the Panama metropolitan area. It starts on Monday June 8th. There’s no defined end date.
*****additional info based on Today’s new announcement on June 7th 2020.
- The absolute lockdown shall be applied on all the weekends of the month of June 2020.
- In addition to the mobility restriction based on gender and ID number, the ban of night outings after 7pm until 5am is maintained.
- All these make the males with the ID number 6 to have only 3 hours per week to go out: 5:30pm to 7pm of Tuesday and Thursday. I expect that it shall be modified somehow after a while.
*****up to here
It seems obvious its necessity to keep the severe restriction, although of course it is much more inconvenient for our lives. During this one week of freer life, I went for shopping when I wanted, and it was less stressful that I didn’t need to think much of time. However, I noticed that people are making some crowds in stores and on roads, which made me feel quite risky. Some are acting not correctly, and it’s making the situation much worse than before.
Financial Times made an image that clarifies the situation of Latin-America that is now representing 44% of the global deaths due to coronavirus.
Here, things are getting worse now.
