I wouldn’t hesitate to say that Panama is now getting much worse. There are three simple things that indicate it
Panama eased largely its mobility restriction and allowed lots of economic activities since Monday June 1st.
However, seeing the rapid increase of positive cases as well as death numbers since last week, on June 4th the national government announced the absolute lockdown in the Panama metropolitan area of the weekend from Saturday evening 5pm until Monday morning 5am.
The coronavirus positive number increased up to 13,463 (it was 6,720 as of 1st of May), 336 died (was 192), as of Today 31st of May 2020. It means we doubled the positive number through this one month.

According to the conference on 27th April, the effective reproductive number of Panama went up again beyond 1 and it is now estimated to be 1.15. It had been estimated below 1 a week ago.
